BCCI announces Rs 50 lakh cash prize for Rahul Dravid; rewards for players, support staff too

This was the second time the U19 Indian team managed to reach the finals under the guidance of former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a list of different cash prizes for the members, head coach and the support staff of India U19 cricket team lead by Prithvi Shaw after they beat Australia in the ICC U19 World Cup final on February 3. Manjot Kalra’s match-winning century and a superb performance from the bowlers didn’t let the Aussies lead in the final game played at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.

After Prithvi Shaw & Co defeated Australia, the Indian cricket board announced a cash prize for each and every member of this young team, who made this victory possible.

It was the second time that the U19 Indian team has reached the finals under the guidance of former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid. In 2016, the team led by Ishan Kishan played West Indies in Bangladesh but they couldn’t bring home the trophy back then.

India is now the only nation to play six U19 World Cup finals and winning four of them, the most by any country. In 2000, India won under the captaincy of Mohammad Kaif; in 2008 when they beat South Africa, Virat Kohli was the skipper. In 2012, India lifted the trophy for the last time before today’s historic win, under the leadership of Unmukt Chand after beating Australia.
