Bangladesh has finally done the impossible! They have been able to beat Australia in a Test match. In a match which almost came right down to the wire, the hosts Bangladesh won the Test at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. The hosts played splendidly to win their maiden Test over Australia. Shakib Al Hasan starred in the win by bagging two five-wicket hauls in the Test and also scoring 84 runs in the first innings, helping his team post a good score on the scoreboard.
Australia needed 264 runs to win the first Test of their tour. They had a good start to the innings with a score of over 100 with 8 wickets in hand. David Warner was the only batsman in the Australian lineup who stood between Bangladesh and their maiden Test win over Australia.
Warner scored 112 runs but finally, it was Shakib who got him out on Day 4 and brought Bangladesh back into the game. Australia was cruising towards the win before Warner’s wicket and all of a sudden they were struggling to keep their wickets intact. As the ball withered, spinners put immense pressure on the Australian batsmen and the wickets dropped at regular intervals.
Skipper Steven Smith, too, put on a decent score before Shakib sent him back to the pavilion and gave Bangladesh an upper hand in the first Test.

Pat Cummins tried to revive Australia’s chase but kept running out of partners. When Australia was reduced to 9 wickets with 37 runs to win, Cummins switched gears and tried to finish the match on his own. He struck two huge sixes but Taijul Islam got the wicket of tailender and an injured Josh Hazlewood to wrap up the proceedings and avoid any twists in the story.
