Australia vs India, WWC17 semi-finals: 5 reasons why India will win it EASY!

India v Australia, Women's World Cup, semi-finals: Smriti Mandhana and Poonam Raut have shown that they have the ability to take on any attack

Mithali Raj’s team India take on the mighty Australians for a place in the finals to play England. This could very well be Mithali Raj’s last outing in a World Cup if India loses. Team India has been consistent throughout the tournament, barring a slight hiccup when they lost to South Africa and Australia. Australian skipper Meg Lanning would be more than confident, heading into the semi-finals. If India want to pose a threat to the Australians, they need to fire in unision.

Here are five reasons why we feel India will start favorites:

Openers in form: Smriti Mandhana and Poonam Raut have shown that they have the ability to take on any attack. Both the Indian openers have hit hundreds in the tournament, which will be a huge boost for them ahead of the all-important semi-finals.

Mithali Raj on song: India best batter Mithali Raj has shown that she is the best in the world. Mithali has been breaking records at the rate of naughts. First she became the first batter to score seven consecutive half centuries. She also reached 6000 runs in this tournament, becoming the only player to reach that feat. “It’s all about how the teams respond to the situation and the conditions on the day,” she said ahead of India’s clash against Australia.

Ekta Bisht, Rajeshwari Gayakwad could spin a web: Yes, the spinners of the Indian team has been a big factor for them making it to this stage of the tournament. Ekta delivered the goods against Pakistan and Gayakwad came to the party against New Zealand. Mithali would certainly hope that the spinners fire in tandem.

Once bitten, twice shy: India have already lost to Australia in the group stage and that is bound to play on their minds. So, now that they have got a taste of the Australian juggernaut, we expect India to be well-prepared to counter them.

Jhulan could hold key: Tall and athletic Jhulan Goswami has been around for more than a decade. She has solid experience of playing against Australian and that experience could hold the key for team India. Jhulan has been in decent form throughout the series. Her experience of playing big matches could help India ouster Australia.
