Arjun Tendulkar Gets Out For A Duck On His Debut Under-19 International Game — Watch

Arjun Tendulkar lost his wicket to the left-arm spinner trying to defend the ball on his front foot

Arjun Tendulkar started his Under-19 international career like his father Sachin Tendulkar did in the ODIs. Arjun got out for a duck in the India Under-19 vs Sri Lanka Under-19 first youth Test. The 18-year-old got a wicket in the first innings by trapping the Sri Lankan opener RVPK Mishra. However, when he came to bat, he lost his wicket to spinner PWS Dulshan’s delivery while trying to play forward defensive shot. He got caught at the forward short leg position by Pasindu Sooriyabandara.

Arjun played 11 deliveries in his innings. Whereas he took just 12 balls to take his maiden Under-19 international wicket on Day 1 of the youth Test.

Here’s the video of the dismissal —

Few on Twitter tried to draw similarities between him and his father whereas others trolled him and called his selection a product of nepotism.

#ArjunTendulkar is just a waste of time….
coz of his father gaining some attention… otherwise no one will even know him

Arjun Tendulkar just got out on 0 vs SL and someone told me he is known for his bowling not batting. Actually, he is known because of his father, that’s all. @BCCI @BCCIdomestic

Tendulkar Jr is one of the two batsmen who got out without scoring in double digits. India Under-19 scored 589 in the first innings in reply to Sri Lanka’s 244. Ayush Badoni and Atharwa Taide scored centuries whereas Anuj Rawat and Nehal Wadhera scored half-centuries.

Badoni remained unbeaten for 185. He batted with the tail and helped India Under-19 put on a big total on the board in the first innings. The pitches in Sri Lanka support the spinners more often. India A might be looking to wrap this up early and register a win by an innings.
