After Inzamam, cricket fans witness most bizarre runout in BBL. McCullum, Vettori in utter disbelief

The Hobart Hurricanes set a target of 180 runs for the Heats. D'Arcy Short scored the highest with 122 runs of 69 balls

Alex Ross’ run out in the Big Bash game against Hobart Hurricanes became the biggest talking point of the match, which Hurricanes won by 3 runs. In the past, Inzamam-ul-Haq has been involved in some of the funniest runouts ever, but this run out was in a league of its own. Brisbane Heat took on the Hobart Hurricanes in the 24th match of the Big Bash League 2017-18. The match was played in front of a packed crowd at Brisbane. It was choc-a-bloc when Hurricanes won the toss and opted to bat first on what looked like a batting paradise.

So here is what happened:

The incident took place in the 17th over of the match. Alex Ross was on strike with Pierson at the other end with Heats pressing for a win. Ross pulled the ball in front of the square leg side and went for the run, after which he suddenly realised he could frisk in a couple. The throw came in from 20 metres ahead of the ropes. Ross dived but unfortunately, the ball bounced off his body onto the stumps. The umpire had no hesitation in adjudicating him out for obstructing the field. Ross had to leave the field with Heats in trouble. Ross made 27 off 19 balls.
