Taking a leaf or two out of Shahid Afridi’s book, Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir decided to put his best foot forward for a cause. He has come out in support of 1998 Asian Games gold medallist Dingko Singh, who has been suffering from bile duct cancer and after going through Chemotherapy on Tuesday at Imphal, it was brought to light that 70% of his liver has been removed.
The boxer is also a 1998 Asian Games champion apart from receiving the Padma Shri and the Arjuna award.
The cricketers are paid handsomely, hence to shell out a bit for the needy is only expected from the KKR skipper.
Being a very esteemed athlete, he never endorsed or advertised his disease, seeking help.

He was receiving treatment and had already shelled out Rs 10 lakh. Reports also made the rounds that he sold his house and some other properties for the treatment. This forced him to stay in his ancestral house, which is an hours drive from Imphal.
Dingko Singh has been provided initial financial aid & he has been assured that whatever his needs are will be taken care of.

Earlier, Sports Minister Vijay Goel had pledged support to the boxer Dingko, but by then it was too late for the announcement and Dingko had been shifted to Imphal.
