You might think that you know everything about your vagina. But no matter how much of a know-it-all person you may be, the ‘vajayjay’ is always a bit of a mystery. It is always going to be. 1.  When aroused vagina expands up to twice its size. The average size of a vagina is 3-4 inches deep but during a sexual intercourse, it expands lengthwise due to muscular tension. The clitories too becomes enlarged (call it a female boner, if you want) as it is engorged with blood.

2. Not all women are born with a hymen. So a hymen which is to check whether a girl is a virgin or not is basically not the best way to find it out. For women who do have hymen, it differs in thickness and amount of coverage.

3. There may be more than just one G-spot. It is known to be the prime erogenous part of the vagina. However, there are studies that show there may be more than just one such highly erogenous zone down there called the A-spot. The fact is, there are a lot of spots inside the vagina that can cause pleasure.

4. Your diet may affect how you smell down there. Eating healthy or eating junk food will change the way you smell.

5. The clitoris has more nerve endings than anywhere else in the human body. An then it should come as no surprise that it is extremely sensitive to any kind of stimulation and can sometimes be the source of utmost pleasure and and sometimes the source of  pain. There are about 8000 nerve endings in a vagina as opposed to just 4000 in a penis.

7. Things can’t get lost up there. It’s not a black hole it’s your vagina. The cervix blocks off access beyond the vagina and it is impossible for anything like a tampon or other things to escape the uterus. 9. It is also a self-cleaning body part. If you need more reasons to be proud of your hoo-haa, know that it cleans itself up too. Vaginal washes used for maintaining hygiene may sometimes even disturb the natural ph balance of your vagina. So normal soap and water are enough to keep it clean.

10. The vagina lets you know when you are most fertile. The cervical mucus becomes stretchier and clearer around ovulation time if you are not on oral contraceptives. So watch out for the signal from down there.

11. Vagina benefits from a regular workout. Just like your biceps and abs benefit from regular exercise, working the main muscle of your pubic region can tone up your vag.  It also makes it easier to climax and provide a tighter grip during sex.

12. A dry spell doesn’t revirginize. This is nothing but a myth. A no-booty season won’t make it tight or make it more painful to penetrate the next time you have sex.

13. The vagina is not noticeably different once you have babies. There is actually no statistical difference in the size of the vagina after one has babies as opposed to the belief that vaginas become loose after delivery.
