5 things you should never say to a bisexual person

It's 2017, biphobia shouldn't exist. Here are 5 irritating things society really needs to stop saying to bisexual people:

Okay, let’s get this straight (no pun intended)- there’s gay, there’s straight and there’s bi.  Even though it’s 2017, there are people with binary thinking who deny bisexuality’s existence. Here’s what you need to understand: Life isn’t just black and white, it’s all shades of grey! We need to stop perpetuating single-minded standards of sexual identity, be it heteronormative or homonormative.

Being intimate with someone of the same sex doesn’t automatically make you gay. Being intimate with someone of the opposite sex doesn’t necessarily mean you’re straight. You could fall somewhere in between of the fluid spectrum of sexuality. It’s 2017, people. Biphobia shouldn’t exist. To help you become a little less biphobic, here are 5 irritating things society really needs to stop saying to bisexual people:

It’s just a phase

No, it’s not just experimenting. It’s a sexual orientation.

So, you just want to do it with everyone?

Nobody is bi because they’re greedy. Grow up!

So, you’re confused?

No. There’s straight. There’s gay. And there’s Bi. You like vanilla. You like chocolate. You can like both, right? Nobody’s half gay or half straight or fully confused. If a person is gay, they will identify as a gay person, openly. Saying that a bi person eventually becomes gay/straight is the dumbest thing to say.

Ey but you can’t really cheat on a guy with a girl, right?

Yes, it counts if you cheat on a guy with a girl or vice-versa. CHEATING is CHEATING. Period.

OMG! I know another bi person, should I set you up?

No, the same sexuality isn’t the only thing we look at when we think of compatibility. Just like straight people, bi people want to know a person’s likes, dislikes, hobbies etc too (surprising, isn’t it?)
