Bravo! Virender Sehwag now says his tweet was not meant for Gurmehar Kaur (but forgets his RTs)

Former batsman Virender Sehwag, who is in the eye of storm over his tweet targetting Kargil martyr’s Gurmehar Kaur for raising her voice against ABVP , has said that his tweet was a sudden idea and was not intended for the Delhi University student.

Speaking to a media house, Sehwag said, ” My tweet wasn’t intended for Gurmehar. It was plain fun but people construed the other way,” he told India Today.

Earlier, Sehwag had the Twitter divided after he posted an image with him holding a placard that read, “I didn’t score two triple centuries, my bat did”, along with the message, “Bat me hai Dum ! #BharatJaisiJagahNahi”.

However, the former opener’s Twitter timeline tells a different story.

My grandfather was a freedom fighter. Joined Army post independence. Fought 3 wars. That’s his achievement not mine #BharatJaisiJagahNahi

Referring to ABVP’s involvement in violence at Ramjas college over invitation to Umar Khaled for an event, Kaur changed her Facebook profile picture holding a placard which reads, “I am a student from Delhi University. I am not afraid of ABVP. I am not alone. Every student of India is with me. #StudentsAgainstABVP”.

The campaign went viral on social media with many supporting Kaur while others slammed her for taking the stand against BJP’s youth wing.
