Sreedhanya Suresh became the first woman from an indigenous tribe of Wayanad to crack the civil services exam. The 26-year-old is among 29 people from Kerala to clear Union Service Public Commission exam 2018.
Born and brought up in a Kuchiriya tribal hamlet, her father was a daily wage worker and her mother was employed under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme.
She was inspired by Kozhikode collector Sreeram Sambasiva Rao to attempt the civil services exam. She wants to become an IAS officer and wants to work towards the upliftment of the downtrodden sections of Wayanad.
Sreedhanya bagged the 410th rank in the Civil Services Examination, 2018, the results of which were announced on April 5. She was congratulated by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, among others.
Ms Sreedhanya Suresh from Wayanad, is the first tribal girl from Kerala to be selected for the civil service.
