This Kerala police officer is breaking beauty stereotypes for a greater cause.
Senior civil police officer of Irinjalakuda in Thrissur district Aparna Lavakumar made headlines on Tuesday after she shaved off her knee-long locks and donated it to make wigs for cancer patients. The video of her getting her head shaved in a local beauty parlor soon became viral on social media.
The 46-year-old decided to tonsure her head after she met a class 5 student who was battling cancer during an awareness drive at a local school. “It can be unnerving when you lose your hair after chemotherapy. I wanted to show support by going bald and normalising it,” she told The News Minute
However, this is not the first time Aparna is in the limelight. According to Hindustan Times earlier Aparna made headlines when she had donated her gold bangles to a family who was struggling to settle a hospital bill to get the body of their kin released
