Shocking! 21-month-old girl allegedly raped by 40-year-old man in Delhi’s Shahdara

The accused left the baby at the entrance of her house, where her family found her bleeding

A 21-month-old girl was allegedly raped by a 40-year-old man from her neighbourhood in Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar area of Shahdara, police said on Tuesday. The accused, who works as a tailor, has been arrested, they said.

The incident happened on Sunday evening when the accused took the girl to his home. Since the infant’s father, who runs a tea stall in the area, knows the accused, he often let him play with the baby. On Sunday evening, the accused left the baby at the entrance of her house, where her family found her bleeding.

They took her to a nearby hospital where she was said to be in a critical condition and was referred to Delhi’s Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) hospital where she is undergoing treatment. The baby’s condition is stable now, the police said.

This incident has come few days after a three-year-old girl was raped allegedly by her neighbour in central Delhi’s Anand Parbat, police said today. The incident happened yesterday when the girl was playing outside her home alone and the 22-year-old accused lured her with chocolates. He took her to his shanty. When the girl’s parents could not find her, they started a search. Some neighbours told them that the girl was seen with the accused.

Upon reaching the man’s house, the girl’s parents and the neighbours found her bleeding and unconscious.
They rushed her to a hospital, where she underwent a surgery, the police said, adding, the girl suffered injuries to her private parts and is currently under observation. The accused was thrashed by the locals and handed over to the police.

The girls family lives in a slum cluster in Anand Parbat’S Baljeet Nagar. Her father is a rickshaw puller, while her mother works as a domestic help in the locality. The police said the incident happened around 7.30 AM yesterday. Since her parents were caught up in something, she went out alone. A local NGO is counselling the girl and her parents.
