This will break your heart. Over 15 puppies were found dead outside Kolkata’s Nil Ratan Sarkar Medical College and Hospital on Sunday. The puppies were found wrapped in disposable bags at the hospital’s parking lot.
According to a report by The Times of India, the locals spotted the dogs wrapped in plastic bags. When they tore off the bags, an adult dog also jumped out of pain. It had sustained injuries and was bleeding profusely.
As per preliminary reports, the puppies were beaten and poisoned to death. Police are examining the CCTV footage of the incident.
Meanwhile, a video of two female students beating the puppies with rods is doing the rounds on social media. Another student is said to have filmed the attack from a mobile phone.

The hospital administration has also initiated an inquiry into the matter but it is yet to confirm the involvement of the two nursing students who have been allegedly shown beating the puppies in the video, reports News 18.
The incident has sparked outrage on social media.

A similar incident took place in August last year when seven puppies were found dead outside an apartment in Dwarka. It was alleged that the puppies were killed by the residents. A case was registered under the sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. No arrests were made, reports PTI.
Under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and the Animal Birth Control Rules, 2001, killing stray dogs is against the law. They should be picked up, neutered, vaccinated against rabies and released in the areas from where they had been captured.
In November 2018, the Supreme Court issued a contempt notice to the Sakaleshapura municipality in Karnataka for allegedly having 350 stray dogs killed in violation of the law, reports The Telegraph.
