Day after joining Trinamool in protest march, Shiv Sena cools down on demonetisation

Shiv Sena on November 16 had joined the opposition march led by Trinamool Congress to Rashtrapati Bhawan against the Modi government on demonetisation.

Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday said the government must allay the fears of the common man over its demonetisation issue

Adding further, he said that the party was against the implementation of the announcement and would support the fight against black money.

“There are so many places where there are no banks; what will they do?; must show trust in common man not everyone is dishonest,” the Sena chief added.

“In my conversation with Rajnath Singh I urged that the government must take steps to minimise the inconvenience caused to the people,” Thackeray said.

On Wednesday, NDA ally Shiv Sena had joined the protest march by opposition parties led by West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee. The delegation had submitted a memorandum to President Pranab Mukherjee, seeking withdrawal of demonetisation move.
