Here’s why Priyanka Chopra’s ad campaign for Assam tourism is facing public wrath

In 2016, the BJP Government in Assam adopted a new logo for its tourism campaign and made Priyanka Chopra as its brand ambassador

From Hollywood series to Quantico, Priyanka Chopra has been stealing hearts worldwide. However, she seems to have gone wrong this time with her logo for Assam tourism which has the tagline- “naturally wild-kyunki yeh Assam hain”. This tagline is facing a lot of criticism in social media.

Just after the controversial advertisement campaign, which featured Pee Cee, was out, iy drew a lot of criticism on all the social media platforms.

The ad which was published with the Quantico actor and a rhino in the backdrop with a tagline ‘Naturally wild, Kyunki yeh Assam hai’ has perplexed many points over the double meaning portrayal of Assam which might be a major turn off for the international tourists.

Meanwhile the entire advertisement is termed as a flak by the government authorities.

But it is necessary for the government to look into the side of the local people and their aspirations for a more robust promotion to make Assam positively visible to the world.

The tourism in Assam has taken the backseat since a last few days because of the much controversial advertisement which has been heavily criticised.

In 2016, the BJP Government in Assam adopted a new logo for its tourism campaign with minister of tourism and finance Himanta Biswa Sarma, who announced a budget of Rs 15 crores for publicity roping in the superstar Priyanka Chopra as its brand ambassador for the coming four years.

Meanwhile, the “Awesome Assam” shoot will start from April with ‘real mix’ of destinations for all categories of tourists.
