Fifteen U-15 footballers from Northeast handpicked for football training in Germany

Steps for the promotion of football in Northeast is in the offing including setting up of Centre of Excellence

Fifteen U-15 football players from Manipur have been selected by the TATA Trusts and U Sports for a premier collaborative football training program in Germany. The players left for Germany on January 13.

Addressing, a press meet in Imphal, Associate Director of Tata Trusts Biswanath Sinha, expressed confidence in the young talents and said that he hoped that they will create a mark in the forthcoming FIFA World Cup 2026. “The long-term vision is to make them play in 2026 FIFA World cup, that the main expectation behind sending the players for training in Germany for six years” added Sinha.

Biswanath said that the joint initiative of Tata Trusts and U Sports is aiming at improving the standard of Indian football, providing opportunities to play in global football fields to talented Indian footballers and importantly, to ensure qualification of India in 2026 World Cup.

Under the project U Dream Football, young and talented footballers will be offered a unique opportunity to pursue a career as a professional footballer, he said.

Not only exploring talent at the grassroots level, the project also aims at offering international training and infrastructure support to help them advance as a professional footballer.

Biswanath said the joint activity of Tata Trusts and U Sports is going to enhance the standard of Indian football, giving chances to play in worldwide football fields to gifted Indian footballers and vitally, to guarantee capability of India in 2026 World Cup.

Under the venture U Dream Football, youthful and gifted footballers will be offered a one of a kind chance to seek after a vocation as an expert footballer, he said.

Not just investigating ability at the grassroots level, the venture likewise goes for offering global preparing and framework support to help them progress as an expert footballer.

Till date, the trust has also opened 60 centres in Mizoram especially to train young football players at a different level in collaboration with the Mizoram government.
