Mamata Banerjee refuses to link her phone number to Aadhar. Here’s how Twitter reacted

The West Bengal CM also dared the Centre to disconnect her mobile number

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on October 25 said that she would not link her mobile number to her Aadhar number. The Chief Minister also asked her party workers and leaders to not link Aadhar to their mobile numbers. While speaking at an extended core committee meeting of the Trinamool Congress in Kolkata, she said,

I will not link my Aadhaar with my mobile number under any circumstances. If the authorities want to disconnect my phone let them do it. The Centre is interfering in the rights of the people and violating their privacy. Aadhaar number should not be linked with one’s mobile phone.

While some of the users on Twitter agreed with her,

I agree with her this violation of supreme court verdict on right to privacy #bravo

She may be correct until Supreme Court gives its Verdict in Aadhar card case. Govt extended its deadline to 31st March2018

Most people on the micro-blogging site disagreed.

She never talked against so many social sites, apps. but now she is considering #Privacy #MobileAadhaarLink @MamataOfficial #Hypocrite

That’s fine. Your number will be disconnected and you may buy new one, that time Aadhaar is mandatory. Cool #mamata

Some even took a mean turn to bash the two-time West Bengal Chief Minister.  Take a look:

Next Didi will say : I will not pay Income Tax as I will not give my Aadhar

Like a Crab she prefers muddy water. So she can continue her secretive deceptive activity, alongside her Bangladeshi friends in WB.

only terrorists-communities will not link Aadhaar like you

— Joy Deb (@Joys_World) October 25, 2017

Mam just keep on linking bangladeshi terrorists to WB & appeasement politics with votes.. rest u leave it to Citizens!!

One user even suggested that she was not linking her phone because she had links with Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI.

If Mamta links her phone to Aadhaar, her link with ISI will be exposed. She may be Mumtaz Banu from Pakistan and not Mamta Benerji.

Recently, Attorney General KK Venugopal said that the government was willing to extend the deadline for linking Aadhar to welfare schemes as well as to mobile numbers by to March 31, 2018. The Supreme Court on October 25 sought clarification from the Central government whether any action would be taken against those who did not link their mobile numbers and bank accounts to the unique-identity scheme before the deadline.
