Two dead, 11 rescued as high-rise in Mumbai’s Cuffe Parade area catches fire

Eight fire-fighting vehicles have been rushed to douse flames emanating from Maker Tower.

Two people have died in the fire that broke out in a high-rise building in Cuffe Parade area of Mumbai on Tuesday. “The fire broke out at the 20th floor of residential Maker Chamber following which 10 fire tenders rushed to the spot,” a senior official from the fire brigade said.

The incident took place in ‘A’ Wing of Maker Chamber at Cuff Parade at 6.37 am and, therefore, there were people sleeping in the tower at the time of incident, an official from fire brigade control room said.

Two persons were killed in the fire while 11 others were rescued, according to police and firefighters.

The blaze was said to be in control, the senior official from the fire brigade said.
