How 228 Rohingyas In Delhi Are Struggling To Survive After The Slum Blaze

They lost everything that they had, except for their lives.

“We lost everything in the fire, there’s nothing left. We couldn’t save anything except for our lives,” says Mohd Harun, a 45-year-old Rohingya Muslim refugee who has been living in Delhi for the past 6 years. Harun, and the 44 other Rohingya families who were living in a slum in Kalindi Kunj area now have nowhere to go. A freak fire accident on Sunday night reduced the entire settlement to ashes.

With the help of some Muslim organisations and student groups, the 228 refugees have been shifted to makeshift tents. However, the question of their survival still remains unanswered as they have lost everything that they had.
