CBSE class 12 result: These 4 kids are a classic example of how disability is not an excuse if you want to succeed

Every year thousands of disabled kids appear the class XII CBSE examination and most of them pass with flying colours, beating their disabilities

Harmehar Kaur Grewal did not let her paralysis come in between her education. 17-year-old Kaur was left paralysed from the neck down after a road accident five years ago. However, she proved that physical discomfort is not a barrier when you have decided to achieve something in life. Kaur came second in her school by scoring 91.4 per cent in her Class XII CBSE results in the humanities stream.

Kaur, who is the daughter of an Army officer, was left immobile after the accident and was required to do strenuous physiotherapy on a daily basis, which was not just time-consuming but also led to pain and fatigue. But Kaur fought it and can now write properly with her right hand, though her left hand still remains weak.

Kaur is not alone.

Every year thousands of disabled kids appear the class XII CBSE examination and most of them pass with flying colours, beating their disabilities. For instance, Dharshana M V from Nalanda International Public School in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu did not let her disability and her condition of using a magnifying glass for reading come in between her best efforts, as she scored 96.6 per cent and secured the third rank in CBSE class XII examination in the differently-abled category, the results for which was announced on Sunday.

Aditya R Raj from Trivandrum, Lakshmi PV from Palakkad, Kerala and Dharshana M V from Krishnagiri of Tamil Nadu are top three scorers in CBSE class XII examinations in the category.

Another such inspiring figure is Kunwar Arora from Vivek High School in Chandigarh. Kunwar suffers from a 100 per cent hearing loss when he was only three years old. However, beating his disability, Kunwar scored 89.4 per cent in humanities and also appeared for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and got 76th rank!

Kunwar’s mother Seema Arora told The Indian Express that when Kunwar lost his hearing, she was disturbed but seeing his achievements has now made her forget everything about Kunwar’s disability.

Rahul Bhatia, a student of Bhavan Vidyalaya, is no exception. He is suffering from familial exudative vitreoretinopathy which causes the development of blood vessels in the retina and obstructs the visibility. He has been suffering from it since he was a kid. Though the doctors said that he would never be able to study as the disease was not curable, it’s only because of Rahul’s sheer determination that he passed with 87.6 per cent marks in Commerce stream.

These students are a classic example of how if we are determined to achieve something in life, nothing, not even our own disabilities can stop us!
