At This Mass Wedding For Transgenders, 15 Couples Tied The Knot

In the ceremony which was conducted as per Hindu rituals, each man married a person from the transgender community. 

Probably, for the first time in India, a mass marriage ceremony was organised for the transgender community in Chhattisgarh. At Pujari Vatika in Raipur, 15 couples tied the knot and exchanged vows on March 30. In the ceremony which was conducted as per Hindu rituals, each man married a person from the transgender community. Mitwa, an organisation that works for LGBTQ rights organised the event after raising money through crowdsourcing. The initiative got appreciation from all quarters and was attended by many people. In the last two years, Chhattisgarh has taken many initiatives for the upliftment of the transgender community. In 2018, Chhattisgarh became the first state in India to conduct a police recruitment drive for the people from the community.
