Watch: The haunting first trailer for Stephen King’s The Mist is here

The first trailer for Spike's upcoming The Mist is here. The TV series is an adaptation of Stephen King's novella of the same name.

The first trailer for Spike’s upcoming The Mist is here and boy, is it strange. The TV series is an adaptation of Stephen King’s 1980 novella of the same name. Starring Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Okezie Morro, Darren Pettie, Dan Butler, Isaiah Washington, Jr. and Frances Conroy, The Mist is the first TV adaptation of the famous novella.

Set in a small town in Maine, the story revolves around the residents who get trapped in a mysterious fog which cuts them off from the rest of the world. Things take a darker turn when the town divides itself in two. While some residents believe that the mist has been sent from God, others see it as an alive, evil force. Quite bizarre if you ask me. Or should I say, mist-erious. #SorryNotSorry

Stephen King’s The Mist will comprise of ten episodes and will premiere on Spike on June 22.

Much like King’s other works, The Mist features a darker outlook on religion. In fact, the story seems quite similar to Under The Dome. In the 2013 series, a town gets cut off from the world, and the residents start to turn on each other. Also, there’s a religious aspect to it which, later gets ignored as the series progressed. Hopefully, this new series takes a different turn but, the setting seems to be the same.

Stephen King’s works are really coming into the limelight this year with TV adaptations of Castle Rock and Mr. Mercedes set to premiere this year. Also, upcoming movies The Dark Tower and IT are also based on King’s novels.
