Telly Talkies: Karan Chhabra talks about the ‘truth’ in reality shows, working with Tiger Shroff and more

Karan Chhabra will be seen essaying an important role in Tiger Shroff starrer Munna Michael. He talked about his journey in reality TV shows and movies

Karan Chhabra has seen an illustrious career. From being a part of reality TV show to working in movies like Heropanti and now Munna Michael, Karan believes in always surging ahead. For this Delhi born lad, work is worship and thinks he has to give everything to get into the skin of the character. There is probably no genre of entertainment which Karan has left out be it small screen, the silver one or reality shows. In a conversation with InUth, Karan spoke about his plans, his journey so far and more. Excerpts:

How do you see your journey from reality TV contestant to working in movies?

It has been great. I credit my stint as a reality TV contestant as my turning point. When I went on Splitsvilla I was tested on whatever I had learned since the beginning. But movies, they are quite different because it works on a set formula, with the script and all. Since I don’t have any connection in the film industry, seeing myself on the silver screen is a dream come true.

There is a lot of debate about ‘real’ in reality TV. What is your take on it? Do you think TV shows are scripted because of TRPs?

It is rigged, I think, earlier it wasn’t. If it was scripted then it won’t be a reality but a scripted show. Talking about my experience I think in a show where you stay away from your family members and friends, you become irritating. Coming back to your question, maybe it is rigged because the producers and channels have a say. Apart from this, the reactions, the emotions and everything else is real.

Karan Chhabra

Tells us something about experience on Splitsvilla

It is difficult to stay away from home. The frustration catches up on you and this leads to the outburst. You cannot trust anyone because most of the people are there to win the show.

But when you were a contestant, Sunny Leone was a host. How is her demeanor on the show and how is it like to have her around?

She has been very sweet to me. I remember once I was feeling low and she made me feel good by talking to me. More than a host she became family. Sunny is of course really beautiful and the way she encouraged me is something I would cherish forever.

You have worked with Tiger Shroff in Heropanti and now Munna Michael, how has that experience been?

I play a host in the Munna Michael. In Heropanti,  I was his friend. Tiger and my chemistry is amazing and that made it easier while shooting for this one. I felt good because when I was called for Munna Michael, I  knew I would be I around people who are like family. Whenever Tiger and I meet it is a great time and I am glad to have someone so nice in my life.
