MNS issues open threat to multiplexes, warns them against screening Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

MNS Cine Wing's president releases an official statement

In the latest development around the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil‘s release controversy, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has released another open threat. After the single screens association decided to ban the film in four states — Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa and parts of Karnatakas, MNS has announced that they will not let the film release even in the multiplexes in the state.

In his official statement, Amay Khopkar, President, MNS Cine Wing has said: “Multiplex mein bhi nahin chalne denge Pak kalakaron ki filmein. Multiplex Pak kalakaron ki filmon ko pradarshit na karein. Varna yaad rakhein ki unke shishe kitne mehenge hote hain.” (We’ll not let multiplexes screen any film featuring Pakistani actors. If any multiplex still decides to screen film starring Pakistani actors, think about the repercussions.)

This is not for the first time that MNS has issued an open threat against Ae Dil Hai Mushkil‘s release. Earlier as well, the members of single screens association had cited MNS threats as one of the reasons behind not letting the Karan Johar directorial release in the state. In their interview to a news channel, the member of the association had said that even if they allow the film to screen, there’s a threat of damage to their property and the security of the movie-goers.

Earlier, talking about the ban on  his film, Karan Johar had said that nobody can stop his film from release when the Censor Board has passed it. Even the CBFC chief — Pahlaj Nihalani asserted the same and said:

“Films already shot before changed relations between India and Pakistan should not be affected. Once cleared by censor board, the association does not have the right to ban or take decision not to screen a film”

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil features Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma apart from Fawad Khan in the lead. The film, which is produced by Fox Star India and Dharma Productions is slated to hit the screens on 28 October. The film, being a big Diwali release is clashing with Ajay Devgn’s starrer Shivaay.
