The first Malayalam blockbuster of the year, Mohanlal starrer Munthirivallikal Thalirkumbol is doing phenomenal business at the Kerala Box Office. The family entertainer, which had released on 20 January 2017 has already emerged as the second fastest blockbuster in Malayalam cinema industry after Pulimurugan. Directed by Jibu Jacob, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is produced by Sophia Paul under the banner of Weekend Blockbusters.

The film has repeated its dream run overseas as well. The film, which had released in UK on Thursday has minted a massive Rs 68 lakh on its opening weekend. In USA, the Lalettan starrer continued its amazing run by raking in Rs. 63.65 lakh in 10 theatrical days of its release.

Popular Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter account to confirm the update.

What’s more? Munthirivallikal Thalirkumbol has emerged as the top film on its opening weekend at the UAE Box Office. The four-time National-award winner’s film, which had released in just 78 screens across the UAE on Thursday had stiff competition from Akshay Kumar starrer Jolly LLB 2, Suriya starrer Singam 3, Prithviraj’s Ezra and the Hollywood films Gold and The Last Face. But Munthirivallikal Thalirkumbol easily tops all the films to be the numero-uno at the UAE Box Office.

It marks the collaboration of one of the celebrated Malayalam couple, Mohanlal and Meena, after their 2013 blockbuster Drishyam. The film also stars an ensemble star cast including Anoop Menon, Kasaba fame Neha Saxena, Alencier Ley Lopez, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Sharafudheen, Srindaa, Sudheer Karamana, Bindu Panicker, Jacobinte Swargarajyam fame Aima Rosmy Sebastian and Bhaskar: The Rascal fame Sanoop Santhosh.
