Oscars 2017: Winners and highlights of the 89th Academy Awards

Live updates from the 89th Academy Awards, Oscars 2017 live updates: The 89th Academy Awards see Emma Stone’s La La Land as the big favourite.

The 89th Academy Awards, which started at 7 PM (ET) (5:30 AM for our viewers in India) was dazzled with some of the biggest stars in Hollywood arriving at the Red Carpet. Hidden Figures actress Taraji P. Henson stunned us all in a black dress. Shortly afterwards, the star of Garth Davis’ Lion, stole focus when he brought his mother as his date to the Oscars 2017. The star of the show (for Indians at least), Priyanka Chopra is such a tease!

After about 90 minutes of the Red Carpet event, the winner of Best Supporting Actor was announced with Mahershala Ali (Moonlight) beating Dev Patel (Lion) to the award. Suicide Squad and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them followed with their wins in Best Makeup and Hairstyling and Best Costume Design categories. O.J.: Made in America was named The Best Documentary – Feature at the Oscars. Other winners included Arrival and Hacksaw Ridge taking away the honours of Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing.
