Welcome back Chitrangada Singh. Oops… the ‘pop singer’ Chitrangada Singh

Chitrangada Singh will be seen playing the character of a pop singer in her upcoming. She was last seen in a dance number in Akshay Kumar's Gabbar Is Back.

Filmmaker Girish Malik has roped in actress Chitrangda Singh to play a pop singer in his next — Band of Maharajas. The actress who was last seen doing an item number in Akshay Kumar’s Gabbar Is Back will be portraying the character of Billo Mumtaz in the film. The film, as the makers have deemed it, is a coming of an age drama. It will show three young folk musicians who set out on an adventure that changes their lives.

Chitrangada has been off-screen for quite a while now. Her last on screen outing in a full fledged roles remains I, Me Aur Main where she shared screen space with John Abraham. Since then, the gorgeous lady is only seen doing special appearances in films. The Inkaar actress had already started some workshops to get into the skin of her character. The actress has reportedly started learning to play various folk instruments.

Band of Maharajas is set to release in 2017 and its shooting will begin next month in Shri Ganganagar. The film is produced by Wave Cinemas.

Earlier, the Desi Boyz star had to leave a film mid-way due to a feud with the film’s director. It was reported that Chitrangada was upset with the comments director Kushan Nandy made on the sets of Babumoshai Bandookbaaz. The actress quit the film and stated that she could not stand Nandy’s offensive comment: “Tange ragdo and sex karo.”

The director however, denied the reports and claimed that he didn’t ask Chitrangada to do anything against her nod for the film.
