Tubelight Box Office Collection Day 5: Salman Khan’s film fails to show growth of any kind

Salman Khan's Tubelight did not live up to its expectations at the Box Office. The story of two brothers directed by Kabir Khan released on June 23

Salman Khan’s latest on-screen outing Tubelight seems to be flickering at the Box Office. The Kabir Khan directorial failed to connect with viewers and the Box Office collection of it have been disappointing. Despite being the big Eid release of this year, Tubelight fell flat. Considering the collection of previous movies of Salman Khan, Tubelight’s Box Office record is disheartening.

Reports have it that on the first Tuesday, Tubelight’s collections were lesser than Monday’s. The film earned Rs 12 crore yesterday at the domestic market. On Eid, the movie earned Rs 18 crore, and on Tuesday, even less than that. Salman’s movie did not earn over Rs 30 crore on a single day, something which defies the pattern of his films. At such a pace the lifetime collections of Tubelight might come to be around Rs 150 crore.

The movie tells the story of two brothers- Lakshman and Bharat. Lakshman played by Salman Khan doesn’t understand the world and is slow-minded. This simpleton avatar of Salman Khan, who sets on a journey to bring his brother back from the war, did not quite register with viewers.

Tubelight was received by mixed reviews. Speaking about it, Salman Khan had said, “This film is not of a kind which you watch with your buddies as you will not get an opportunity to dance or have fun. It is a very emotional film. Even an emotionless, stone hearted person will get tears in his eyes. So this is an emotional film to be seen with parents, grandparents, and the entire family.”
