The advent of New Year in our lives has brought with itself its share of expectations and the film industry is not oblivious to it. 2017 has a lot to offer as far as big ticket releases are concerned. This year will see releases starring stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Rajinikanth, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar to name a few.

To get you more in the mood of the New Year, here are 9 Bollywood releases to look out for this year:

Raees

Shah Rukh Khan as a bootlegger and Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the cop who locks horns with him, Raees has given enough fodder to people to talk about. The movie is directed by Rahul Dholakia of the Parazania fame and expectations are high from this one. Releasing on 25 January, Raees also marks the Bollywood debut of Pakistani actress Mahira Khan. Apart from its cast and expectations from the movie, Raees found itself at the center of a political slugfest owing to Mahira’s presence.

Rangoon

What sets Rangoon apart from other period dramas of Bollywood, is that it has few similarities to Hollywood’s cult Casablanca. This Vishal Bhardwaj directorial stars Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut in pivotal roles. While Shahid, Saif are said to play army personnel, Kangana will play a performer in the movie.The stellar cast and whatever little details about the movie have been revealed has made this 23 February release much awaited.

Baahubali: The Conclusion

More than any 2017 release, the second installment of the magnum opus Baahubali is being awaited by cine lovers with bated breaths. The movie will finally answer why Kattappa killed Baahubali, but the makers have maintained that it is much more than that. Director SS Rajamouli had said that in terms of grandeur and action, the sequel will race ahead of the prequel. The movie will release on April 28.

Tubelight

Eid means a Salman Khan movie for cine buffs and the superstar would keep his promise in 2017 too. His movie Tubelight will mark his third collaboration with filmmaker Kabir Khan after Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015). Set against the backdrop of Indo-Sino war, Tubelight will have Salman as an army personnel who falls for a Chinese girl (played by Chinese actress Zhu Zhu).

Rahnuma

This Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer will be directed by Imtiaz Ali- everything about this movie is a Bollywood’s lover dream. The title of the movie was revealed by Salman Khan on Twitter and will release on 11 August.

Golmaal Again

Taking the hit franchise of Golmaal forward, Rohit Shetty has once again teamed up with his friend Ajay Devgn. After a lot of speculations, Parineeti Chopra has been roped in for the leading lady of this movie that is slated to release on Diwali this year.

Rajinikanth is returning to the silver screen with his sci-fi franchise and it will have Akshay Kumar in the role of an antagonist. The movie has been making it to headlines because of its intriguing first look.

Padmavati

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s yet another magnum opus after Bajirao Mastani is all set to enthrall the audience this year. Starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor, this movie will surely be one of the biggest hits. The film is scheduled to release on November 17.

Tiger Zinda Hai

After blocking the Eid weekend with Kabir Khan’s Tubelight, the Christmas and New Year also belongs to Bhaijaan, as he will again make us fall in love with Tiger in Ek Tha Tiger’s sequel Tiger Zinda Hai. The movie will hit the screens on December 22.
