Raees vs Kaabil Box Office collections: Shah Rukh Khan-starrer continues lead, but Hrithik Roshan’s flick gains pace

Shah Rukh Khan's Raees raked in a whopping Rs 20 crore against Hrithik Roshan-starrer Kaabil's Rs 10 crore on Day 1 at the box office. How did both the films perform on the second day?

On the occasion of Republic Day, Bollywood witnessed its first mega box office clash of the year. Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Hrithik Roshan-starrer Kaabil hit the theatres. Both the films received mostly positive reviews from critics and fans.

While Raees earned Rs 20.42 crore on Day 1, Kaabil had a decent outing of Rs 10.43 crore. In other words, it was SRK who took the honours on the opening day. But the second day’s earnings will leave you surprised.

On Day 2, Raees collected an estimated Rs 26 crore thereby continuing its impressive show. On the other hand, Kaabil improved upon its performance and raked in Rs 18 crores. It is indeed a considerable increase from the day 1 earnings.

The mega box office clash is not without its share of controversies. The film’s producer Rakesh Roshan had already expressed his angst over both the films releasing on the same day. He had predicted that they will eat into each other’s business. But if you go by the second day’s collection, it seems that Hrithik’s thriller flick might gain pace in the coming days.

Directed by Sanjay Gupta, Kaabil has Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam playing the role of a blind couple. Ronit Roy and Rohit Roy are antagonists in this revenge drama while Narendra Jha does a cameo as a senior cop. On the other hand, SRK plays the titular role of Raees who starts as a bootlegger before becoming a gangster. The film set in Gujarat features Mahira Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Atul Kulkarni in pivotal roles.

#Raees is PHENOMENAL on Day 2. All set to pack a FAB total in its 5-day weekend. Wed 20.42 cr, Thu 26.30 cr. Total: ₹ 46.72 cr. India biz.
