Post Toilet Ek Prem Katha success, Akshay Kumar thanks critics who accused him of promoting Modi government’s agenda

Akshay Kumar’s latest release Toilet Ek Prem Katha is creating buzz for all the good reasons. Also starring Bhumi Pednekar in the female lead, the film has already managed to earn Rs 83.45 crore in just five days of its release. An elated Akshay Kumar took to twitter and thanked his fans for the positive response the film has been received. Post Toilet Ek Prem Katha’s success, Akshay Kumar thanked even the critics who accused him of promoting government’s propaganda. In the video, he not only thanked his fans just because his film is doing well at the Box Office but also appreciated the way people accepted such a strong issue of open defecation and lauded him for bringing the topic on the silver screen.

Akshay, who is busy shooting for his next Gold in London posted a video in which he said: “I am thankful to you all not only because the film is doing well in Box office but also the film is addressing a very old and important disease of the society i.e open defecation.”

Referring to a research study, the actor added: “happy to inform that eight months ago there was a research which said 54 per cent of people used to defecate in open. But now the number has been slashed to 34 per cent”. He said that he was not going to stop talking about the subject since his film has already been released and also urged people to do the same, as he feels the topic need more attention.

Extensively shot in Mathura, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is a romantic comedy, which intends to create awareness about hygienic sanitary practices.The film is based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat campaign.
