Anushka Sharma’s latest release Phillauri might not have opened as expected at the box office, but the film has picked up surprisingly well over the weekend. Phillauri opened to only 15 percent occupancy across India on Friday and has jumped over 30 percent on Saturday.

The film has done a business of Rs 4.02 crore on Friday and Rs 5.20 crore on Saturday, minting a total of Rs 9.22 crore so far. Phillauri is going strong in North and not only domestically, the film is doing really well at the international market as well.

Phillauri witnessed a growth of 40 percent overseas and has earned Rs 1.70 crore in two days of its release in UAE-GCC. Made on a budget of Rs 21 crore, the film has already collected Rs 12 crore from the satellite and music rights.

Helmed by Anshai Lal, the film is an unfinished love story of a friendly ghost named Shashi and brings two lifetimes together. Set in Phillaur, Punjab, the storyline is unique and fresh. Phillauri is not only being highly praised by the film critics but is also liked by the audience as well.

Phillauri is Anushka Sharma’s second production venture after NH10. This is for the first time that the actress has played a ghost on-screen. Also, Anushka and Diljit Dosanjh’s chemistry in the film has made it even more interesting. The film also stars Mehreen Pirzada opposite Life of Pi fame Suraj Sharma.
