Naam Shabana: Taapsee Pannu is all praise for ‘honest’ Akshay Kumar, says he could have easily refused to do Baby prequel

After The Ghazi Attack and Running Shaadi, Taapsee Pannu is gearing up for Naam Shabana. She says it is great that Akshay Kumar is supporting the film

Taapsee Pannu is on a roll these days. The actress who has done a lot of work down South, had made her Bollywood debut with the 2013 David Dhawan film Chashme Badoor. After the success of her latest release — The Ghazi Attack and Running Shaadi, Taapsee is all set to thrill the audience with her upcoming thriller, Naam Shabana. Jointly produced by Neeraj Pandey and Shital Bhatia, the film is a prequel of the 2015 Neeraj Pandey thriller Baby.

On Thursday while promoting her two Friday releases, Taapsee had revealed that she is grateful to Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar for backing Naam Shabana with an extended cameo role. The Pink actress was quoted saying:

It’s amazing that a superstar like Akshay Kumar decided to back Naam Shabana. He could have refused to do a cameo given the work he is doing, but he supported the project. Though he has a small role, he is completely involved. He called me up during my preparations for the role, and complimented me when the first poster released. He is honest with feedback.

Naam Shabana is based on the character of Shabana Kaif, played by Taapse Pannu in Baby. The prequel is now focusing on her journey of becoming a RAW agent in Akshay Kumar’s team. The actor will be seen reprising the role of lead of the RAW operation, Ajay Singh Rajput in Naam Shabana.

The film also marks the third Bollywood outing of actor Prithviraj after Yash Raj Films’ Aiyya and Aurangzeb. It also features Manoj Bajpayee, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa and Eli Avram in other pivotal roles. Naam Shabana is slated to hit the screens on 31 March 2017.
