Meri Pyaari Bindu movie review: Parineeti Chopra and Ayushmann Khurrana remind you of your ‘bachpan ka pyaar’

Parineeti Chopra and Ayushmann Khurrana share adorable chemistry in beautiful romantic comedy Meri Pyaari Bindu. Here's our review of the film

Parineeti Chopra and Ayushmann Khurrana share screen space for the first time in romantic comedy Meri Pyaari Bindu. After essaying roles of new-age lover in films like Shudh Desi Romance and Kill Dill, the bubbly girl is back in business. The flick, released this Friday, deals with the fond memories of childhood love that everyone relates to. There was a lot of buzz surrounding the Yash Raj venture since the trailer was unveiled. The makers of the film released several teasers in the form of chapters. Here’s a quick review of the film.

The story is set in Kolkata of 1980s. Abhimanyu (Ayushmann Khurrana) and Bindu (Parineeti Chopra) know each other since they were kids. Actually, Abhi as he is affectionately called, lost his heart to his neighbour at first sight. “Bachpan Ka Pyaar…Pados Wala Pyaar” as Bindu describes it. Abhi grows up to become a writer and has a great career. Instead of penning love stories, he’s more into thrillers and horrors. Bindu is an aspiring singer who wants to make a mark in Bollywood. She is melodramatic, lives her life to the fullest and does not care a damn about what people think of her. She only realises once life gives her a kick. For Bindu, Abhi is a total saviour. He saves her from flunking the exams putting aside all the risks. Later on, they move to different places but still remain in touch through letters.

What’s hot

The film is unlike a typical Yash Raj flick. So, you might miss the hero and the heroine singing around the tree or romancing at the mustard field. Parineeti is at her witty best and punchlines left the theatre in splits. The chemistry between the two is worth watching. The songs became an instant hit and the picturisation makes the Akshay Roy directorial a treat to watch.
