Madhur Bhandarkar’s Indu Sarkar cleared by CBFC revising committee with a few cuts

Madhur Bhandarkar said he is happy and relieved as his film Indu Sarkar has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) revising committee

After facing many hurdles, finally Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming film Indu Sarkar has been cleared by CBFC revising committee with a few cuts. Ecstatic with the response, the filmmaker took to social media platform and thanked the board for passing the film. Bhandarkar on Monday, July 24, took to Twitter, where he said that the film was cleared with a few cuts. He wrote: “Thank you CBFC revising committee. Indu Sarkar has been cleared with few cuts. Happy and relieved. See you in cinemas this Friday, July 28.”

Set against the backdrop of the 1975-77 Emergency, the film features Neil Nitin Mukesh, Kirti Kulhari and Tota Roy Chaudhary. It also stars Supriya Vinod, Anupam Kher and has characters inspired by the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and her son Sanjay Gandhi. However, according to Madhur Bhandarkar, 70 percent of the story is fictional and 3o percent is true.

Earlier, the film has created headlines as the CBFC suggested 12 cuts and two disclaimers, including removal of words like RSS and Akali from the upcoming film Indu Sarkar. Meanwhile, Bhandarkar, who was on a promotional spree for the film, recently had to cancel the promotional activity of his next Bollywood outing in Pune. He has received threats from the local Congress workers, following which the Maharashtra government provided proper security to the filmmaker.
