Here’s why Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLB 2 is under the judicial scanner

A petition has been filed at the Bombay High Court asking the makers of Akshay Kumar's Jolly LLB 2 to remove the word LLB from the film's title

Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Jolly LLB 2 has landed itself in legal trouble. A petition has been filed at the Bombay High Court asking the makers to remove the word LLB from the film’s title. Not only this, it is also being suggested that the trailer must be banned on social media and TV channels as well.

The film is a sequel to Arshad Warsi’s 2013 courtroom comedy drama- Jolly LLB and is the story of a struggling, blunt and yet oddly compassionate Jagdishwar Mishra, aka Jolly, who has moved from Kanpur to the city of Nawabs Lucknow, to becoming a big lawyer.

The petition has been filed by Advocate Ajaykumar S Waghmare, who says that using the word LLB is a deliberate attempt to malign the reputation of the Indian legal profession.  According to a report in The Hindu, the petition says that:

The characters in the film’s trailer are shown to be playing cards and dancing in court premises which suggest that Akshay’s film has no respect for the judicial profession, discipline and ethics.

The petition is likely to be heard at the Bombay High Court on January 24. We really don’t think that the trailer is disrespecting the judicial system and is just a humorous courtroom drama, like its prequel.
