A string of Bollywood faces like Boman Irani, Rishi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Riteish Deshmukh and Madhur Bhandarkar among others have paid tributes to veteran film, stage and television actress Reema Lagoo, who died early on Thursday following a cardiac arrest. The film fraternity expressed shock on the news of the sudden death of Bollywood’s favourite Maa Reema Lagoo. Apart from them, celebrities including Boman Irani, Kunal Kohli, Ashoke Pandit, Avinash Gowariker also expressed their grief on social media platform.

Reema Lagoo passed away following a cardiac arrest early on Thursday morning. The 59-year-old Marathi TV and stage actress breathed her last at a private hospital where she was rushed shortly after midnight. The actor was famous for playing the ‘mother’ in both movies and television.

Reema Lagoo started her journey with TV and gained popularity on the big screen with the film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, in which she played the role of Juhi Chawla’s mother. Her most popular movies and television shows were Kal Ho Na Ho, Tu Tu Main Main and Shriman Shrimati. Not only in Hindi, she played a lead role in the Marathi serial Tuza Maza Jamena.  Mostly playing a middle-aged mother in films, earlier in her career she also played a dancer in Aakrosh (1980) and a cold-hearted businesswoman in Yeh Dillagi (1994).
