From Baywatch to Aitraaz, Priyanka Chopra has always been exceptional in roles with shades of grey

Priyanka Chopra's performance as the villain Victoria Leeds in Baywatch was quite impressionable. Was it her or was it her in the shoes of an antagonist?

Priyanka Chopra has established herself as one of the more talented actresses in the industry. From her Bollywood debut in The Hero: Love Story of a Spy to her recent Hollywood debut in Baywatch, where she played the antagonist Victoria Leeds. While Baywatch wasn’t exactly a great film, critics worldwide praised Priyanka’s performance. Even co-star Dwayne Johnson lauded her for bringing a certain degree of viability to the role and it’s true! Priyanka Chopra had way too many balls in the air with her character Victoria Leeds but she juggled them quite masterfully. One could even say that this was one of her best performances which is quite surprising as she did not have a lot of screen time to leave an impression. Was it her or was it her in the shoes of an antagonist?

Watching her torment the “Avengers of the Beach” was reminiscent of her role in the 2004 film Aitraaz. Priyanka’s character Sonia Roy is a seductress whom you hate to love. On the hunt for power, Sonia manipulates people around her with her arresting charm and crafty nature. Her character in Baywatch was quite similar in those terms- a rich, powerful woman with a side-agenda hidden that she attains by exploiting others.

But those are not the only two films to bank on, in 7 Khoon Maaf, Priyanka channels a dark woman who has her own sense of justice. Although she’s not essentially evil, she does kill seven of her husbands in the revengeful narrative.

All three of these roles were where Priyanka Chopra really stood out and wowed her fans. She was widely appreciated for her performance in Aitraaz especially for a newcomer at the time. Priyanka did a phenomenal job and held her own against co-stars Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor. Critics across the world sung a similar tune for her performance in Baywatch. And, for 7 Khoon Maaf, Priyanka won several awards even the coveted Critics Award for Best Actress at the Filmfare Awards.

Basically what we’re trying to say Priyanka, is to not let this be the last of your negative roles because that would be an injustice to the cinema. Just, keep ’em coming.
