Box Office: Tubelight is the worst; here’s how much Salman Khan’s films earned in last 8 years on Eid

As Salman Khan's Tubelight has failed to leave a mark at the Box-Office, here is looking back at his top 8 highest grosser released on Eid

Salman Khan is the king of Bollywood, ever since he came up with his films on the festival of Eid, he creates history. Be his 2016 blockbuster hit Sultan or 2009 release Wanted, Salman always treated his fans and followers with an amazing movie. He even started the trend in Hindi film industry to release his films on Eid. Started the trend in 2009 with Wanted, he went on with his films like  Dabangg (2010), Bodyguard (2011), Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Kick (2014), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) and, Sultan (2016). 

But now, considering the Box Office figures of his latest release Tubelight, it seems the actor is not going take forward his legacy with his Eid release. After ruling the Box-Office for over eight long years, Tubelight left Salman Khan’s in surprise. The film has recorded the lowest collection so far on Eid as compared to his other films. Expected to open with a great response, Salman Khan starrer earned Rs 19.09 crore on Eid.

As Tubelight has failed to live up the expectations of Salman Khan’s previous release, here is looking back at his top 8 highest grosser released on Eid.

1- Wanted (2009)- Started the trend by releasing the film on Eid, this Salman Khan and Ayesha Takia starrer made a business of Rs 20 Crore (Approx) on day 1 of its release. The film turned out to be a blockbuster hit with a lifetime collection of Rs 120 Crore at the Box-Office.

2- Dabangg (2010): Directed by Abhinav Kashyap, the film featured Salman Khan in the male lead and also marked the big Bollywood debut of Sonakshi Sinha. Produced by Arbaaz Khan, the film stand with an approx collection of Rs 140 Crore. The film minted Rs 25 Crore in its opening day.

3- Bodyguard (2011): Starring Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, the film was a remake of a Malayalam film. The film made a business of more than Rs.148 crore at the box office. Released on Eid, the film minted Rs 27.25 Crore on day one of its release.

4- Ek Tha Tiger (2012): Marked as one of the highest grosser of the year 2012, Ek Tha Tiger earned Rs.198 crore at the box office. Directed by Kabir Khan, the film featured Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in the main lead. Released on the occasion of Eid, the film made a business of Rs 32.93 Crore on its opening day.

5- Kick (2014): “Mere bare mein itna mat sochna … dil mein aata hoon … samajh mein nahi”, we are still trying to get over from this dialogue of Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer Kick. The film made a business of  Rs.232 crore at the box office. On day 1 of its release, the film had collected Rs 26.40 Crore.

6-Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015): Starring Salman Khan in the lead, the film has taken the Box-Office by storm with a collection of Rs 320 Crore. The audience loved Salman and child artist Harshaali Malhotra’s on-screen chemistry. On day 1 of its release, the film collected Rs 22 Crore at the Box-Office.

7-Sultan- (2016)- Featured Salman Khan as a wrestler this Ali Abbas Zafar’s directorial crossed Rs 100 Crore mark in just three days of its release.  The film has collected Rs 36.54 Crore on day one of its release. The film also featured Anushka Sharma as a female lead.
