Aarushi Verdict: Shekhar Kapur, Kabir Bedi, Aditi Rao Hydari welcome HC judgement acquitting Talwars

A string of celebrities like Aditi Rao Hydari, Vishal Bhardwaj took to their Twitter and shared their views on Aarushi verdict

After an exasperating 9-year-long wait, the Allahabad High Court on Thursday acquitted dentist couple Rajesh and Nupur Talwar in the murder of their only daughter, Aarushi Talwar and domestic help, Hemraj. The bench comprising Justices A.K. Mishra and B.K. Narayana said that the Talwars didn’t murder their child.

On May 16, 2008, 14-year-old Aarushi Talwar was found murdered in her Noida residence. Initially, Hemraj was suspected of Aarushi’s murder but soon that theory was nullified when Hemraj’s body was recovered from the terrace.

After a botched up investigation, in November 2013, a special CBI court in Ghaziabad convicted and sentenced Talwars to life imprisonment for the double murder. Additionally, Aarushi’s father, Rajesh Talwar was convicted for giving false information to the police. The couple then challenged the order in the Allahabad High Court.

After the decision came out, a string of Bollywood and television celebrities including Kabir Bedi, Shekhar Kapur, Kritika Kamra Vishal Bhardwaj and Aditi Rao Hydari among others took to Twitter and extended their support to Aarushi’s parents.

While filmmaker Shekhar Kapur felt the pain and said, “Nothing worse than parents accused of their own daughter’s murder,” television actress Kritika Kamra wrote: “Sure it’s a relief that they won’t be in jail anymore.. but who’s responsible for this messed up the investigation and what happens to that? Spine-chilling. The thought of what the parents have gone through.”
