Royal Stag Large Short films has brought a realistic story to life with Kartaa, a short movie presented by Anurag Kashyap and directed by Randeep Jha. The movie stars Digamber Prasad as Akhilesh, the protagonist. His intense eyes and mannerisms hold your attention in every frame. So much so, even one-sided conversations between him and a character keep your eyes glued to the screen . This 20-minute flick tells the hard-hitting tale of India’s dirty real-estate politics and the deplorable condition of small-time brokers.
The movie opens with a conversation between a property between Akhilesh and his client. Despite the lack of any context whatsoever, you understand the gravity of the situation and want to be a part of the conversation. The plot thickens as the movie progresses. There’s a lot on Akhilesh’s plate: A high profile deal gone kaput, an anxious wife who never speaks a word and bankruptcy. All this leads to a very predictable yet inevitable ending.
The movie feels like you are closely witnessing someone’s life unfolding in front of you and the dark close up shots add to the intensity to the story. Watch the movie right here:
