Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is leaving no stone unturned to lure the voters in the upcoming Punjab elections. Akalis who released their manifesto recently promised to buy lands in the United States and Canada for the Punjabis who wish to migrate from the state.
We kid you not. Akalis have affirmed that they will make immigration facilities for the people who wants to shift to the US. “Apart from assisting our farmers, we will also make efforts to ensure that Punjabis will get secure permanent resident status in those countries,” the manifesto stated.
If that was not enough, they have also promised to help students who wants to study abroad. For the farmers back home, SAD has promised interest-free loans upto Rs 2 Lakh along with tube wells for every farmer. As far the women are considered, SAD has said they would two-wheelers to all the girls who were graduates or a senior secondary student. There’s more.
The ruling party has also promised sugar at Rs 10/kg. And more. At least 25 toppers in classes 10, 11 and 12 will receive free education. Wait, not done yet. In their 52 page manifesto, the party has also promised to offer 20 Lakh jobs. They have also affirmed that there will be no katcha houses in any villages in Punjab in the next 5 years if they were allowed to come back to power.
For the infrastructure, Akalis have also committed to start a one stop shop in the villages which will have everything starting from groceries to medicines.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had earlier affirmed that BJP’s alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal will continue like before and the government would up with many more development plans for the state if they are allowed to govern in the state. Jaitley had said that the party has high hopes of BJP-SAD alliance to come back to power again.
