Sania Mirza-Ivan Dodig reach Australian Open mixed doubles final

In a match that was lasted for an hour and 18 minutes, Mirza-Dodig thrashed their opponents by 6-4, 2-6, 10-5.

India’s tennis ace Sania Mirza and her Croatian partner Ivan Dodig reached the finals of the Australian Open in the mixed doubles category after thrashing Australian pair Samantha Stosur-Sam Groth.

In a match that was lasted for an hour and 18 minutes, Mirza-Dodig thrashed their opponents by 6-4, 2-6, 10-5. Stosur and Groth had earlier beaten the much fancied but wildcard pairing of Leander Paes and Martina Hingis in the previous round.

They will now take on the winner of the second semi-final featuring Elina Svitolina-Chris Guccione and Abigail Spears-Juan Sebastian Cabal.

Earlier, The second seeded Indo-Croatian duo held their nerves to save two match points in their 6-4, 3-6, 12-10 win against the unseeded pair of Bopanna and Dabrowski to reach the semis, in a match that lasted an hour and seven minutes on Show Court 3 in Mebourne.

Sania-Dodig’s experience of playing together helped them win vital points at crucial junctures of the match. They won 64 overall points, four more than their opponents to claim a tight contest.
