Reema Lagoo, known for her roles in several Hindi and Marathi films, died of cardiac arrest in Mumbai on Thursday at 59. In a career spanning more than three decades, she earned accolades of playing character roles in popular films. She played mother to Salman Khan in Judwaa, Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Saath Saath Hain and others. Lagoo also essayed the role of Shah Rukh Khan’s mother in Kal Ho Naa Ho. Besides an illustrious career in films, she was also a known face on television.
Those born in the 90’s will remember her roles in Shrimaan Shrimati and Tu Tu Main Main. If she was a doting housewife in Shrimaan, Lagoo was a ruthless mother-in-law Devki Verma in Tu..Tu– who tried all possible measures to keep her bahu Radha (Supriya Pilgaonkar) in check. Watchman scene: This is one of the funniest episodes of Tu Tu Main Main. Devki decides to hire a watchman and makes elaborate arrangement for his welcome. The intention is really good but her painstaking efforts in ensuring that the guard does not face any difficulties while performing his duty are hilarious.

Driving License: Getting a driving license in India is not an easy task. In this episode of Tu Tu Main Main, Devki’s neighbour Padma flaunts her daughter-in-law’s driving license before the saas-bahu duo. A miffed matriarch challenges Padma that she will teach Radha how to drive a car within 10 days. What follows is a complete laugh riot. It will be interesting to see whether Radha actually learns how to drive or not.

IQ Test: Devki and Radha claim they are the most intelligent in the household. The banter turns ugly when both enter into a fiery argument. To end the deadlock, it is decided that both Devki and Radha will go through an IQ test.
Home-breaker: Besides Tu Tu Main Main, Reema Lagoo was known for her role of a housewife Kokila in Shrimaan Shrimati. The soap revolved around the lives of neighbours in a residential society. Kokila stays with her husband Keshav (late Jatin Kanakia), who does not see eye-to-eye with neighbour Dilruba (Rakesh Bedi). However, he has a crush on the latter’s wife Prema (Archana Puran Singh), who is an actress. Here’s a funny episode from the popular soap in which Dilruba plots to honey-trap Keshav.
Keshav on a killing spree: Keshav is furious as everything is going wrong on that day. He picks up a fight with Kokila and leaves home for office in a huff. Meanwhile, Kokila consults an astrologer who predicts that her husband will commit a murder.
Predictions come true: Keshav bumps into a beggar who asks for some food. After being snubbed by him, the poor man curses him saying that whatever Keshav says will come true.
