Ahead of the game number 22 of the Indian premier League (IPL) 10 between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), it was essential for Punjab to play remarkably well as they had already lost 3 of their previous games. For a change, Shaun Marsh was picked up for this game and he gave a solid start too. But the way Hashim Amla played right from the beginning was just astonishing.
Amla looked very confident right from the beginning. Though Shaun Marsh and then Maxwell supported him with their knocks as well but Amla turned out to be the only batsman who played all the 20 overs. In the 16th over, he brutally trashed Malinga for 2 sixes and 2 fours and scored 21 runs in that over.

By the end of 20 overs, Hashim Amla was lucky enough to create a new record in the limited overs format. After hitting 6 sixes and 8 fours, Amla hit first ever T20 century and his final score was 104 runs off 60 balls. In IPL 2016, Hashim Amla had scored a phenomenal 96 in Mohali against the Sunrisers Hyderabad but couldn’t cross the 100 runs benchmark. Prior to Amla’s magnificent century, what Punjab Skipper Glenn Maxwell did, was something he is known for. When the team was reduced 80 for 2, Maxwell came into bat at number 4 and without wasting any time, he started thrashing the Mumbai bowlers. By the 15th over, Maxwell had reached his peak and thrashed Mitchell McClenaghan for 28 runs in that over. 6, 6, 4, 4, 6, 1, 0 was the stats by the end of the over.

Maxwell was heading towards his half-century as fast as a lightning bolt but unfortunately, he was dismissed by Krunal Pandya at 40 off 18 balls.
With these heroic innings, Punjab successfully managed to put a total of 198 runs after losing 4 wickets and set a fighting target of 199 runs for MI to chase.
