Gautam Gambhir URGES selectors: Robin Uthappa should be picked for India's Champions Trophy squad

IPL 2017, KKR v DD: Uthappa has been in good form in IPL, he has scored 331 runs at an average of 41.37 and strike-rate of 168.02 including 4 fifties

If there is somebody who is having a purple patch in the Indian Premier League, it has to be captain of Kolkata Knight Riders Gautam Gambhir, also the current Orange cap holder. KKR has just lost 2 matches in their campaign this year out of 8 matches, and that puts them at the top of the table.

In a column titled Captain’s Diary for KKR’s official website, the southpaw said, “Uthappa too was brilliant behind and in front of the stumps. Three stumpings and one of them being a game-changer really helped us. And while batting he displayed beautiful hitting technique. What stood for me was his ability to hit the ball straight. I hope selectors are watching.”

“In the end I was satisfied that I also played some part in the win through my batting. To tell you the truth the credit for my innings should also go to Uthappa. I could ease myself in because he was taking risks and smoking them. These are the reasons I love this game – team work and selflessness.”

Uthappa has been in ominous form in this edition of IPL, he has amassed  331 runs at an average of 41.37 and strike-rate of 168.02 including four fifty-plus scores. He is second only to skipper Gambhir in this edition’s list of leading run-scorers thus far. That exactly shows how dominant KKR batting has been.

We are certain selectors are taking a keen note of the good performances in IPL and if there is a spot in the Indian team, he for certain will have a good case to present.
