Though the delivery was wide which gave the batting team an extra run, James Foster's presence of mind led his team to get a wicket

While Indian wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is busy with Team India playing the ODI series in Sri Lanka, his heroics have been imitated in one of the games of Natwest T20 Blast which was played in  County Ground, Hove on August 18. In the Sussex vs Essex T20 game, Essex wicket keeper James Foster did a ‘Dhoni’ to smartly dismiss Sussex’s Ben Brown while he was playing on 4 during the first innings.

It was the first ball of the 12th over when Sussex were playing at 94 for 2. Essex’s off-break bowler Simon Harmer delivered a ball to Ben Brown which apparently went wide towards the leg side. Brown was tempted to play a pull shot and utilize the opportunity but he missed it, lost his balance and stepped out of the crease. Keeper Foster grabbed the ball and very cleverly dislodged the bails after noticing batsman’s footsteps.

The square leg umpire referred to the TV umpire to get a clear picture. The replay showed that Brown was out of the crease when Foster disturbed the bails. Though the delivery was wide which gave the batting team an extra run, Foster‘s presence of mind led his team to get a wicket.

With Chris Nash’s blissful 73 off 55 balls and Laurie Evans’47 off 37, Sussex managed to put a competitive score of 172 runs on the board. In return, Essex batting line up terribly failed to chase down 174 runs and were bowled out 117 with 25 balls remaining in the second innings. Nash became the man of the match for his monstrous knock.
