Kapil Dev's tip to Virat Kohli: Play Mahendra Singh Dhoni at 4

ICC Champions Trophy: Kapil Dev also asserted the same, he too feels that Mahendra Singh Dhoni is too good a batsman to be batting below 4

Many in the past and even present said that former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is best suited at number four in the Indian scheme of things. Recently, one of the most senior statesmen of Indian cricket Kapil Dev also asserted the same, he too feels that Mahendra Singh Dhoni is too good a batsman to be batting below 4. In fact if one looks at MSD’s record he has always performed exceedingly well at that number, remember Wankhade 2011 finals. Who would forget that! Some cricketing corners are also echoing the fact that it is the end of MSD. Off late Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been in fairly good form.

Kapil Dev recently spoke to an Indian daily and said, “Dhoni may not be the Dhoni of eight years back, but he is still the most experienced player in the Indian side, and how they use him will be critical. Virat Kohli should be very happy to have him in the side.”

The Haryana hurricane further said, “I think he needs to play a few balls before settling down. If he can bat up in the order, at No 4 maybe, it will give him time to settle. At the end of the innings he is absolutely lethal against any bowling.”

It remains to be seen if Virat Kohli considers Kapil Dev’s suggestion or not for that one has to wait for the ICC Champions Trophy to commence. Currently, MSD is getting all-set to play his seventh IPL final which is a feat in itself.
