Hardik Pandya's Twitter Apology Over KWK Doesn't Cut It, BCCI Sends Show-Cause Notice

Looks like Hardik Pandya's Twitter apology hasn't resolved anything.

In a country where cricket is often called ‘religion’, and cricketers are ‘idolised’, the actions and words of the players are bound to be scrutinised with care. After their appearance on popular TV chat show, Koffee With Karan, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul have been making headlines for the former’s misogynistic comments and the latter’s inability in shutting him down.

The controversy has been raging since the episode aired, forcing Pandya to come up with an apology on Twitter:

The duo have now been asked to explain their comments by the Committee of Administrators. CoA chief Vinod Rai told PTI:

“We have sent show-cause notices to Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul for their comments. They have given 24 hours to give an explanation.”

According to Hindustan Times, a senior BCCI official said that Pandya’s Twitter apology won’t change anything. He said:

“This attempt at an apology does in no way bring the issue to closure. This merely shows how lightly he takes the gravely serious issue of respecting women. His conduct was unacceptable. He needs to understand the impact the utterances of an international cricketer have in this country but more importantly he needs to learn how to differentiate between the right and the wrong. Right now he seems to merely respond to the outrage and not to his own thought process and conduct,”

Will BCCI take an action against Rahul and Pandya with World Cup 2019 just around the corner?
