Saif Ali Khan speaks up on Taimur row, slams haters in a classy way

For the first time, daddy Saif spoke about the whole issue justifying his stand on naming the child Taimur. Here are the details

After Kareena Kapoor Khan gave birth to baby boy Taimur on December 20 last year, the internet went crazy about the baby’s name and started criticizing Saifeena for naming the child which bears similarity to Turkish invader Timur.

The controversy about the name became so big that it not only became the prime time debate topic, but Taimur also became the youngest celeb to be trolled on the social media. While many celebs came out in support of the couple, Saif and Kareena maintained silence on the whole controversy.

And now for the first time, daddy Saif not only spoke about the whole issue justifying his stand on naming the child Taimur but also talked about his bond with the newly born at length.

In an interview with Mumbai Mirror Saif explained the whole idea behind naming his son Taimur and said:

I’m aware of the heritage of the Turkish ruler and my son was not named after him. He was Timur, my son is Taimur. It is an ancient Persian name meaning iron. Both my wife and I liked its sound and the meaning. Perhaps, I should have added a disclaimer, as they do in the movies, that any resemblance to any person, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

The actor also spoke about the controversy about Taimur’s name and said that people have already created unnecessary drama and talked about it a lot. He further added:

Social media just makes it clear what everybody is thinking in a sense. There is a lot of anonymity from the side of the people who are doing the talking so they feel free to say whatever they like, and sometimes they get very nasty. People talk about the country becoming right-wing and fascist, and we have all these fears…but the fact of the matter is that if you view the kind of unnecessary drama over Taimur, there were a lot of voices…I felt I didn’t have to say anything because a lot of people had spoken wisely and liberally.

Explaining how he feels of having Taimur in his arms and what his children Sara and Ibrahim think about it. He said:

Tamiur scowls a lot, passes wind and yells so Kareena thinks he’s a lot like me—a cranky, farty yeller! And as far as I’m concerned I have three children and it makes me happy when I see them together and getting along.
